3rd German-African Energy Forum
April 23rd/24th, 2008, Hamburg and Hanover
Africa-Verein announces:
Preparations for the 3rd German-African Energy Forum, to be held from 22nd to 25th April
2008 in Hanover and Hamburg are ongoing. A number of countries, ministries, companies
and institutions have already confirmed their participation, amongst others the German
Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, the German Federal Foreign Office and
ministries from Equatorial Guinea, Guinea and Nigeria. Speakers have been invited from
Algeria, Angola, Equatorial Guinea, Ghana, Guinea, D.R. Congo, Kenya, Libya, Madagascar,
Mali, Morocco, Namibia, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania and
Zambia.
The Forum is organized in close cooperation with the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce and
the Hanover Trade Fair. The Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology has taken over
the patronage, and the Federal Foreign Office supports the aims of the conference and will
also be represented on a high-level.
After almost 100 participants in the first year and 230 delegates in 2007, we expect more
then 300 German and African top-level speakers and representatives of the energy sector.
They will present and discuss the following issues of the African energy sector and the
German energy cooperation:
- Oil & Gas: Exploration and Production
- Petrochemicals, Refining and Distribution
- Power: Production & Distribution
- Renewable Energies: Solar, Wind, Wave, Hydropower, Geothermal, Biofuels
From the German side we expect, amongst others, speakers from BHF-Bank AG, Deutsche
Energie Agentur GmbH - the German Energy Agency, IMPAC Offshore Engineering,
Innovative Wind Power GmbH, MAN Solar Millenium GmbH, Munich Reinsurance Company,
Petrologic Geophysical Services GmbH, and VA TECH ESCHER WYSS GmbH.
